Business Description

Birmingham City Laboratories is an entirely independent local authority consultancy and test house that has been established for nearly 100 years. The roots of BCL can be traced back to the turn of the last century when a laboratory was established by Birmingham to research into explosives and metallurgical processes.

Today BCL is a UKAS accredited laboratory and consists of two distinct sections; Chemistry and Building Investigation, which incorporate a range of scientific & engineering disciplines. The Building Investigation Section undertakes work which includes the Testing and Investigation of Buildings, Structures, Construction Materials, Asbestos Surveys, Asbestos Identification and Asbestos Clearance Certification.

The Chemistry Section undertakes work in the fields of Toxicology, Food Examination & Testing, Environmental Analysis, Chemical Analysis of Building Materials & Components.
