Crafts Nouveau : An introduction to the London antique gallery specialising in original furniture and decorative art of both the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau periods. While concentrating primarily on the heyday of these styles, from 1860 to 1920, the gallery also encompasses the formative years of the English Arts and Crafts Movement, during the Gothic Revival and includes selective items from the Aesthetic Movement through to the birth of Art Deco. Stock categories include : Furniture, ranging from simple Arts and Crafts dining tables and chairs to fine, marquetry inlaid, Art Nouveau mahogany display cabinets, by makers such as Shapland and Petter, Maples, Gillows etc. Metalware, featuring brass, copper and pewterware by W.M.F. And Kayserzinn, the Liberty Tudric designs of Archibald Knox, as well as Oliver Baker, Hugh Wallis and the Newlyn and Keswick schools. Glassware and Ceramics, with pottery by William and Walter Moorcroft, Doulton Lambeth and William de Morgan, glass by Loetz, Powell and Moser. Lighting, features typical brass Arts and Crafts lanterns with vaseline shades, Gothic wrought iron and acid etched Art Nouveau designs. Books and Prints, has original illustrated books by artists such as Edmund Dulac, Willy Pogany and Walter Crane and prints after many of the Pre Raphaelites, including Burne Jones, Rosetti, Morris and Waterhouse. Various categories cover a wide range of collectables of the period, from stamps and postcards to woodworking tools and writing accessories. Currently under preparation for inclusion on the site in the near future are a series of articles exploring the work of key designers and artists of the day, such as Ernest Gimson, Hugh Wallis and W.A.S. Benson.
