Business Description

About DSL

The aim was to run a company that not only offered collectable wine but also offered a complete personal service. Building relationships with customers is key to our business model, and after advising customers on how to build a portfolio of the most collectable wines, our account managers maintain regular contact with our clients, providing a current assessment of the fine wine market, together with a review of their holdings.

Business Services
We use the specialist fine wine storage facilities of Vinotheque, operated by the respected bonded warehouse operator London City Bond, (LCB) for the storage of your wine; your collection is stored under your name and under bond, which means there is no duty or VAT to pay. You are also able to access, view and manage your account online through LCB’s website. Using their independent inspection services, we are able to provide a condition report, including photographs, of the wines before you purchase.

The combination of our expertise and our strong relations with suppliers places us at the forefront of our trade, ensuring we can offer attractive prices to those looking for healthy returns on their fine wine portfolio.

Fine Wine is a great way to add diversity to your portfolio. In recent times there has been an explosion in the popularity of fine wine collecting demonstrating the long-term within the wine market.

Unlike the property and stock markets, which have proven to be highly volatile, the wine market has outperformed most other financial indices over the past two decades, as it is much less susceptible to economic change or interest rates. One great advantage of wine over other kinds of collectables is that the available supply of the premium grade vintages is strictly limited.

Our Fine Wines

Bordeaux

To meet our criteria, only the best is good enough. Of the thousands of wines produced in the Bordeaux region, only a relatively small number can be considered collectable grade.

Here’s our Top Twenty arranged from Left and Right Banks and by region (click each region for a summary):

Left Bank

Margaux

Chateau Margaux

Château Margaux (1st Growth)

Of all the first growths Margaux is certainly in the running for being the most magnificent with its imposing 19th Century chateau. The vineyard of Château Margaux is one of four wines to achieve First Growth status in the 1855 Bordeaux Classificatione.

Chateau Palmer

Château Palmer (3rd Growth)

A great wine of Marguax. Originally planted by an English general, Palmer is officially a third growth, but commands prices between first and second growth wines, an indication of its quality.

Pauillac

lafite_rothschild.jpg

Château Lafite Rothschild (1st Growth)

A brand that is hugely popular with the Asian market, Chateau Lafite Rothschild's 222 acres produces 15,000 to 25,000 cases per year depending on the success of the vintage.

mouton_rothschild.jpg

Château Mouton-Rothschild (1st Growth)

Is a wine estate located in the village of Pauillac in the Medoc, 50 km (30 miles) north-west of the city of Bordeaux, France. Its red wine of the same name is regarded as one of the world's greatest clarets. Originally known as Chateau Brane-Mouton it was renamed by Nathaniel de Rothschild in 1853 to Chateau Mouton Rothschild. It was the first estate to begin complete chateau bottling of the harvest.

chateau_latour.jpg

Château Latour (1st Growth)

The vineyard of Chateau Latour is located in the famous Medoc wine region, belonging to the Pauillac appellation. The quality of its wine depends partly on the type of grape variety and also on the exceptional combination of natural elements. For many, Chateau Latour is the epitome of claret.

chateau_lynch_bages_1.jpg

Château Lynch Bages (5th Growth)

A personal favourite for sheer drinking pleasure, Lynch Bages is a wine that belies its classification and is extremely good value.

chateau_pontet_canet_1.jpg

Château Pontet-Canet (5th Growth)

An emerging star of the Medoc, Pontet-Canet offers excellent quality for the price.

grand-puy-lacoste.jpg

Château Grand Puy Lacoste

pichon-baron.jpg

Château Pichon Baron

Pessac Leognan

chateau_haut_brion.jpg

Château Haut-Brion (1st Growth)

Chateau Haut-Brion is one of the most famous and highly sought of all the Chateaux of Bordeaux. It was the only first-growth to be American owned and Bordeaux's first internationally acclaimed winemaking estate.

chateau_la_mission_haut_brion.jpg

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

If wine drinkers sometimes sound like they are religious about their drink, this is literally true of La Mission Haut-Brion. Founded by the local congregation, much of the early production was supplied to senior church figures, including Cardinal Richelieu. Long in private hands, it is known as a rich, powerful wine. Not to be confused with its neighbouring vineyard, and rival, Haut-Brion.

St Julien

leoville-las-cases_2624.jpg

Château Leoville las Cases (2nd Growth)

A second growth wine often of first growth quality, Leoville Las Cases is one of the more affordable great wines of Bordeaux. A great entry-level purchase for those with a low budget, we also use it to balance portfolios that are dominated by higher priced vintages.

leoville-barton_2613.jpg

Château Leoville Barton (2nd Growth)

One of the best of super-seconds, Leoville Barton is a good value wine alongside Leoville Las Cases.

gruard-larose_sign.jpg

Château Gruard-Larose

beychevelle-exterior.jpg

Château Beychevelle

leoville-poyferre-board.jpg

Château Leoville Poyferre

ducru-beaucaillou.jpg

Château Ducru Beaucaillou

St. Estephe

chateau_cos_d_estournel.jpg

Château Cos d'Estournel (2nd Growth)

One of the finest wines from the Medoc region, Cos d'Estournel is a neighbour of Lafite Rothschild.

chateau_montrose_label.jpg

Château Montrose (2nd Growth)

With huge density and power, Montrose is one of our favourite second growth wines along with Cos d'Estournel.

Right Bank

Pomerol

chateau_petrus_1.jpg

Château Petrus

Like its Pomerol cousin, Le Pin, Chateau Petrus is not a first growth, but again produces one of the most highly rated and expensive wines in the world. The name Petrus often pops up in stories of fabled restaurant meals, and is the wine of choice for bankers and city traders desperate to burn their bonuses.

la-conseillante.jpg

Chais du Château La Conseillante

l-eglise-clinet.jpg

Château L'Eglise Clinet

St-Emilion
