MyIndex is operated by CentraServe Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 3191014). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What data we collect
- Account data: name, email address, encrypted password.
- Business listing data: business name, address, phone, website, description — provided by you when claiming or editing a listing.
- Usage data: pages visited, search terms used, approximate location derived from IP address. This is collected in aggregate and is not linked to individuals.
- Cookies: session cookies (required for login) and Google AdSense cookies (used to serve relevant advertisements).
How we use your data
- To operate and improve the directory service.
- To verify business ownership during the claim process.
- To send transactional emails (verification codes, password resets). We do not send marketing emails.
- To display relevant advertising via Google AdSense.
Google AdSense & cookies
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your previous visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with Google (for advertising) and our hosting provider (for service operation). We may disclose data if required by law.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To make a request, contact us. You may also delete your account at any time.
Data retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Business listing data (name, address, phone) is retained as it forms part of the public directory.
