The Theatre Workshop have stage schools based throughout Sussex and the West Midlands. We have established a reputation as schools of excellence and provide innovation in performing arts training. We believe that the overall success of The Theatre Workshop has raised the bar on part time training at a national level. Established in 2003, our training centres of distinction are open to all young people aged 6 to 18 years.

A professional team of teachers –- all established performers themselves – run weekly workshops in all aspects of theatre, TV and film, singing and dance. Our unique classes prepare students for regular professional and amateur performances, exams, festivals and auditions.

Business Services
Our unique training in Performing Arts offers a full weekly programme in performing arts including the basis of our training, which is group classes in singing, dancing and acting, from a professional team of teachers, all respected performers themselves. This inspired training builds the student’s confidence and nurtures their talents. Many opportunities are offered to perform in public, take annual performance exams, appear in Festivals and gain experience of professional work.

We produce a large scale musical theatre variety performance biannually at the stunning Brighton Dome, which the students thoroughly enjoy and each year, the standard of our students soars. In addition to this on the alternate year we offer a fantastic celebratory prizegiving for all students at a glamourous location ‘The Oscarettes’, complete with celebrity guests, bandeoke, chocolate fountains, student performances and a disco for both parents and students to enjoy!

Many students have representation with a top theatrical/TV agent gaining considerable professional work. Credits include lead role Lucy Beale in Eastenders, Game of Thrones, numerous CBBC programmes such as The 4 o’Clock Club, Dani’s Castle and Hank Zipzer, Nanny McPhee with Emma Thompson, Gulliver’s Travels with Jack Black and Catherine Tate, lead role in the BBC’s Drama Hancock and Joan, Feature film The Day and Milo and Kate. Soaps include Emmerdale and Eastenders as a named character and regular, numerous shoots for Nickelodeon and Disney. TV Commercials include McDonalds, Sainsbury’s with Jamie Oliver, TESCO, Nintendo, Wheetos, Allied Carpets, Buxton water, NSCPCC, Butlins and many more…

Our students have a long history working in professional theatre, and we have seen students appear in the WEST END in MATILDA (3 students), BILLY ELLIOT, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (Regents Park), Emil and the Detectives (Title role, National theatre), Strange Interludes (National Theatre with Anne Marie Duff). Students have performed as The Children’s Choir for the Tour of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT numerous times throughout Sussex, in HALF A SIXPENCE UK TOUR , EVITA UK TOUR, ANNIE with Su Pollard UK TOUR, SOUTH PACIFIC UK TOUR , FIDDLER ON THE ROOF UK TOUR, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR UK TOUR , OLIVER! UK TOUR, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT UK TOUR , THE SOUND OF MUSIC (UK TOUR) PINK FLOYD TRIBUTE ROCK CONCERTS and in operas LA BOHEME, MADAME BUTTERFLY, CARMEN & TOSCA (all in Italian!) UK TOURS. Our students have also performed in pantomimes, fashion shows, modelling assignments, and concerts – again, with professionals. Production companies often favour our students as they are known for their professionalism and talent.

Other performances include WEST END GALAS at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London (the home of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA). Regular workshops at half term include with Guest West End stars, casting directors and specialist skills workshop such as Puppet skills and gospel singing. Our summer schools are in partnership with two of the UK’s top summer school companies and is a chance for students to achieve training from stars of the west end with a performance accompanying them.

Group drama exams are taken annually and adjudicated by a respected industry professional and students can opt for individual tuition in drama studying for LAMDA exams, and private singing lessons with exams with the London College of Music.

These extra opportunities compliment our unique training with our professional team of teachers. Our inspired schools offer a true insight into the craft of Show Business.
